About Self Directed Support
In Control is an organisation helping people get real choice and control. It is supporting local authorities to deliver Self-Directed Support.
In Control
In Control started work in 2003 to change the social care system in England. The old system did not put people in control of their own support or life.
In Control Scotland
Initially, in Control operated only in England.
Throughout 2006, however, the two founding members of in Control Scotland - ALTRUM and the Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability - worked together to establish in Control in Scotland.
Direct Payments information
A Direct Payment is a form of Self Directed Support. It is a cash payment made to you as an alternative to a service provided or bought by the City of Edinburgh Council to meet your needs.
