FREESPACE - Trafalgar Street
Trafalgar Street was set up in September 2002, situated in the Leith area of Edinburgh. This site, although smaller in scale than the other “core and cluster” sites, provides services following a similar model. On this site we offer support for two young people, although there is room for development should the right property present itself.
Staff have a flat which they use as a base, the tenants contact the staff by using their radio system, if they need any support or staff to come to their home for any reason. The flats are on the ground floor of a mainstream housing development, there is nothing to distinguish our tenants homes from any other in the area.
At Trafalgar Street we have a “core” team of 8 members of staff. We also have a small team of relief staff, who are part of our team and without whom we couldn’t provide a service. One member of staff and both tenants have been with us from the very beginning.
75% of the Trafalgar Street team have either completed or are undertaking the accredited HEC in Person Centred Approaches course.
